The language of this “canto casual” [“casual singing”] is of a small jazz group – in this case, a quartet of the keyboard, bass, electric guitar and drums.
The chorus from Canto Casual, a version of Perfect Afternoon, by John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey, gave rise to the rest of the lyrics in Portuguese, while the song ended up being recorded in Brazil, before the performance by Pizzarelli and Daniel Jobim at the renowned Hotel Carlyle, in New York.
The core arrangements and musical direction are by maestro Letieres Leite, the man responsible for the impressive musical event that is the Orkestra Rumpilezz, adding his own vision that includes modal music and afrobeat, which are translated into the impeccable sounds obtained by producer Alê Siqueira.
There is the participation from singers Bruna Prado, with her clean voice and interpretation on Sem Querer, and Giana Viscardi for Esmalteca – which inspired a clip directed award-winning director Stefano Capuzzi, which stars Los Angeles-based tap dancer Steve Zee.
